Vox Lumiere METROPOLIS Sunderland comes to The Fire Station on Tuesday 22 September 2026, turning Fritz Lang’s 1927 silent-film landmark into a live rock, theatrical and cinematic performance.
The production combines the film with an original live score, a full band and powerhouse vocals, building a show designed to sit somewhere between concert and cinema rather than simply screening Metropolis with accompaniment.
Vox Lumiere METROPOLIS at The Fire Station
Vox Lumiere has built its identity around reworking classic silent cinema as large-scale live performance. For METROPOLIS, the musicians and singers perform alongside Lang’s futuristic imagery, giving the century-old film a new soundtrack and a much more immediate live feel.
The Fire Station’s auditorium should suit that crossover format, with the production using music, visuals and theatre as equal parts of the experience.
