Camel Island are an emerging North East act building their reputation through grassroots shows and regional showcase events. Their appearance on the New Horizons Festival line-up in Newcastle places them within a circuit designed to give developing artists space to perform in front of new audiences.
The band are still at a relatively early stage, so the live setting is currently the clearest way to follow their development. Those smaller bills allow new material to settle naturally while the group build a stronger identity from show to show.
For listeners interested in the next wave of North East grassroots acts, Camel Island are part of that developing picture: a band growing through live experience rather than relying on overworked presentation before the music has had time to evolve.
