Brother Strut Bring Funk and Soul to Pilgrim Newcastle
Brother Strut bring their 2026 UK tour and heavyweight funk and soul line-up to Pilgrim Newcastle on 22 October.

Brother Strut Pilgrim Newcastle brings the funk and soul collective to the city on Thursday 22 October 2026, with doors at 7.30pm. The date sits inside the band’s current UK tour and catches a group built around musicians whose careers stretch far beyond Brother Strut itself.
Founded by Stevie Jones, Brother Strut brings together experienced session players who have worked with artists including Stevie Wonder, Amy Winehouse, Sting and Van Morrison. The band’s official site also notes that its members have collectively performed on records responsible for more than half a billion sales. That background is useful context for a show where the focus is firmly on playing as a live unit rather than simply trading on famous names from past sessions.
Brother Strut Pilgrim Newcastle arrives during an active new phase
The timing of the Newcastle date gives the show more relevance than a routine return visit. Brother Strut’s current line-up includes two members of Jamiroquai, while the band says 2026 has taken them back into the studio to prepare new material. Their latest album also features guests including Cory Wong, Elkie Brooks and John Thirkell, keeping the project connected to contemporary funk and soul as it moves into its second decade.
The tour itself runs through venues in Southampton, Bristol, Reading, Birmingham and Chester before reaching Pilgrim, with Glasgow following the next night and a London album-launch event later in October. By the time the band reaches Newcastle, the set will already have had several dates to settle while still sitting well inside the main run.
Pilgrim should suit a group whose appeal is rooted in ensemble playing. The room is much smaller than some of the stages associated with the musicians’ other work, so bass, guitar, keys, percussion, drums and vocals should remain closely connected rather than disappearing into a large production. For a band built around groove and musicianship, that is a more interesting venue combination than a distant theatre setup.
Brother Strut play Pilgrim Newcastle on Thursday 22 October 2026. Doors are advertised for 7.30pm and the event is listed as 14+. Tickets are available through Pilgrim. Check the band and venue channels before travelling in case timings or entry details change.
More Newcastle dates are listed in SoundBite North East’s Upcoming Gigs, while the venue’s programme is on our Pilgrim Newcastle page.
