James Blunt at Utilita Arena Newcastle will bring the singer-songwriter back to the city on Sunday 28 March 2027 as part of his UK and Ireland arena tour supporting forthcoming album Airplane Mode.

The Newcastle date now has another taste of what to expect following the release of new single Circles, one of Blunt’s most overtly anthemic tracks in recent years. Inspired by the late-1990s and early-2000s music that shaped his debut era, the song looks backwards sonically while introducing the next chapter of his catalogue.

Airplane Mode is due for release on 6 November via Atlantic Records. Blunt says Circles reaches back to the inspiration behind his earliest music, drawing on the period that ultimately helped shape the sound audiences first heard on Back to Bedlam.
Lyrically, the new track turns towards the thoughts that refuse to settle in the early hours. That reflective streak should sit naturally alongside the songs that made Blunt a household name, while the bigger arrangement points towards material built with arena stages in mind.
The 2027 UK and Ireland run begins in Leeds on 26 March before reaching Newcastle two nights later. Dates then continue through Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Brighton.
