The Script share new single ‘Scars Align’
The Script release new single Scars Align from The User’s Guide To Being Human ahead of their November show at Utilita Arena Newcastle.

The Script have released new single Scars Align, keeping the momentum behind their latest album The User’s Guide To Being Human moving as the band prepare to begin the Ireland, UK and European leg of their world arena tour.
The track finds the Irish band in a particularly uplifting mode, pairing a driving arrangement with one of the big, open choruses that have become central to their sound. Its inspiration is much more personal, with Danny O’Donoghue drawing on his relationship with his wife and the everyday moments that can make a relationship feel significant.

There is also a connection to the band’s late guitarist and co-founder Mark Sheehan. The title’s wordplay is a subtle nod to Sheehan’s fondness for turning familiar phrases in unexpected directions, giving the song another layer beneath its immediate arena-sized energy.
O’Donoghue says the band knew quickly that they had found something special in the song, describing it as a potential show opener and comparing the feeling around it to the scale and optimism of U2’s Beautiful Day.
Scars Align was written during sessions in California with Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner and Jimbo Barry. It is a familiar creative circle for The Script: between them, the collaborators have previously contributed to songs including Breakeven, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, Hall of Fame, Superheroes and The Last Time.
The single follows the release of The User’s Guide To Being Human, The Script’s eighth studio album. The record became their ninth consecutive number one album in Ireland and reached number three in the UK, extending a run that has taken the band from their 2008 debut through to their current chapter.
North East fans will not have long to wait to hear the new material live. The Script play Utilita Arena Newcastle on Thursday 5 November 2026 as part of their forthcoming arena tour, which begins with two nights at Dublin’s 3Arena before travelling through the UK and Europe.
After the arena run, the band will switch scale completely for a series of intimate Irish Pub Session shows in December, including multiple performances on the same day at The Grand Social in Dublin.
Scars Align is out now alongside The User’s Guide To Being Human.
