The Toby Shaer Newcastle gig brings the multi-instrumentalist together with accordion player Archie Moss and guitarist and singer Jack Warnock at Cluny 2 on Tuesday 10 November 2026. The newly formed trio share a love of traditional music from the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe, but approach that material through contemporary arrangements.

Three musical paths meet at the Toby Shaer Newcastle gig
Shaer, Moss and Warnock first met in 2019 before developing this new trio collaboration. Each player arrives with substantial session and touring experience, giving the group a wide instrumental palette and an instinct for sensitive reinterpretation rather than simple revivalism.
Toby Shaer plays fiddle, flute, whistles and cittern. The composer and producer from south-east England has toured across Europe, Australia and China, working with artists including Cara Dillon and the McCusker, McGoldrick and Doyle partnership. He has also performed alongside Moss as part of Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys.
Archie Moss contributes button accordion. An award-winning musician and composer, he has worked with Seth Lakeman, Sam Sweeney and Eliza Carthy. His experience places rhythmic lift and melodic detail at the heart of the trio’s sound.
Jack Warnock comes from County Derry and supplies guitar and vocals. He is an Irish speaker who performs songs in both Irish and English, with storytelling and the lineage of folk music central to his repertoire. Together, the three musicians can move between delicacy, drive and carefully shaped ensemble playing.
The evening is arranged across two sets, which should give the collaboration room to explore tunes and songs in greater depth. Set one begins at 8pm, followed by set two at 9pm.
Tickets and times
Doors open at 7:30pm at Cluny 2. Advance tickets cost £15. The event is for ages 14 and over, and anyone under 18 must attend with an adult. Tickets are available through the venue’s official ticketing partner.
