Amateur Ornithologist

Amateur Ornithologist are a North East alternative-pop ensemble known for densely layered songs, rich harmonies and an adventurous mix of pop and orchestral instruments. Depending on the show, the line-up can expand from four to seven musicians.

The band’s writing moves between the everyday strangeness of neurodivergent life and the uncanny atmosphere of Victorian fiction. Costumes and stage dressing extend that imagination into their live shows. Across three albums, the group have also appeared at Durham Brass Festival, Sunderland Shorts Film Festival, Marrapalooza, Last Train Home and Summer Streets, alongside receiving support from BBC Introducing and independent radio.
