Abbie Finn Trio

Abbie Finn Trio are a North East jazz ensemble led by drummer Abbie Finn, with Harry Keeble on tenor saxophone and Paul Grainger on double bass. Finn is from the region and based in Durham, while the trio have built much of their identity through performances and recordings around Newcastle, Durham and the wider North East.

The group’s sound draws on hard bop, post-bop, Latin and Afro-Cuban rhythms, using the stripped-back line-up to leave plenty of room for interaction and improvisation. Debut album Northern Perspective arrived in 2020, followed by releases including a live Newcastle Jazz Festival recording, On Pink Lane and Stotties For Three.

Live appearances have included Newcastle Jazz Festival, Durham Jazz Festival, Hexham Jazz Festival and Middlesbrough Jazz Weekender, alongside dates further afield. That combination of a strong regional base and wider touring experience has made the trio a distinctive part of the North East jazz scene.
