Aiko

Aiko are a Sunderland three-piece whose alternative rock sound combines vibrant guitars, fast-paced drumming and an emo-influenced emotional edge. The band bring experience from the local hardcore scene into music that feels melodic without losing its punch.

The contrast between sharper punk energy and more vulnerable songwriting gives Aiko plenty of dynamic range. Their songs can feel urgent and immediate, but there is enough melody and atmosphere to keep them from settling into a single heavy-rock formula.

Sunderland is central to the band’s identity, and their development has come through the North East grassroots circuit. That local live experience gives Aiko’s music the kind of directness that makes most sense in a room, where the heavier and more emotional sides of the band can meet without being overworked.
