Charva Choons Live Returns to NX Newcastle for Christmas

Charva Choons Newcastle returns to NX on Friday 11 December 2026 for a Christmas edition of Steve and Karen’s live party, with the night again raising money for Cash for Kids North East. Doors open at 6pm, DJ Loucon handles the warm-up and Steve and Karen take over from 7pm until 10pm.

Charva Choons Newcastle turns a radio feature into a local fundraiser

All profits from the December NX show are going to Cash for Kids North East, making the event more than a straightforward nostalgia night. The charity supports children and young people across the region, while the live show grows directly out of the Charva Choon feature Steve and Karen run every Friday morning on Hits Radio 90s and Hits Radio 00s.

That local connection is what gives Charva Choons Live its own identity. The format is built around the club records, singalong favourites and throwback tracks that became part of North East nightlife, but it also has the familiarity of a radio feature listeners already know. Taking that idea into NX turns it into a communal night rather than simply another DJ booking.

The running order is already unusually clear. Warm-up DJ Loucon starts at 6pm, then Steve and Karen are scheduled from 7pm to 10pm. That gives the event a defined three-hour main set and an early finish compared with many NX club nights.

Tickets are £20 and the event is strictly 18+. The current Hits Radio page confirms that the December show is the next Charva Choons Live date and that the money raised will support Cash for Kids North East.
