Gurriers bring their live charge to Newcastle University SU
Gurriers play Newcastle University Students’ Union on Thursday 15 October 2026 with Tramhaus in support.
Gurriers at Newcastle University Students’ Union takes place on Thursday 15 October 2026, with Tramhaus joining the Dublin band for the Newcastle stop of their autumn run. Doors are listed for 7pm, and the pairing should make this one of the louder alternative dates on the city’s October calendar.
Gurriers have built their reputation around tense, confrontational post-punk and a live show that rarely stands still. Their songs move quickly between jagged guitar lines, heavy rhythmic sections and bursts of controlled chaos, giving the band a sound that feels built for a room where the audience is close to the stage.
Gurriers at Newcastle University Students’ Union
The Students’ Union should suit that energy well. It has the capacity for a bigger crowd without losing the immediacy that a band like Gurriers needs. Support comes from Tramhaus, whose own wiry, urgent sound makes them a strong match rather than a simple warm-up act. Together, the two bands should make the night feel more like a full alternative bill than a straightforward headline set.
Ticketmaster lists the show for Thursday 15 October at Newcastle University Students’ Union, with doors at 7pm. The same listing also confirms Tramhaus on the bill. Current ticket details can be checked through Ticketmaster.
For anyone following the current wave of guitar bands coming out of Ireland and mainland Europe, this is a useful chance to catch two of the strongest live names in one night. Gurriers in particular have built much of their momentum through touring, so the Newcastle date should arrive with a set that has already been sharpened on the road.
Expect volume, movement and very little wasted space. If the band’s recent live form is anything to go by, this should be one of those shows that feels more physical than polished.
