Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass are returning to the UK for their first tour here in more than 50 years, and Gateshead gets the opening night.

The nine-time Grammy Award-winning trumpeter brings his band to Sage One at The Glasshouse on Thursday 6 May 2027. The concert begins at 7.30pm and starts a six-date tour taking in Glasgow, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham and London’s Royal Albert Hall.
What to expect from Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass
For listeners who grew up with the unmistakable sound of The Tijuana Brass, this is a rare opportunity to hear those songs performed live again. The set will revisit the 1965 album Whipped Cream & Other Delights, which marked its 60th anniversary last year, alongside favourites such as ‘The Lonely Bull’, ‘Spanish Flea’, ‘A Taste of Honey’, ‘Mexican Shuffle’, ‘Tijuana Taxi’, ‘This Guy’s in Love with You’, ‘What Now My Love’, ‘Zorba the Greek’, ‘Ladyfingers’, ‘Rise’ and ‘Route 101’.
Alpert revived The Tijuana Brass touring show in 2025, returning to the stage with performances across North America. That run included New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and the Hollywood Bowl, where he performed for the first time in 59 years.
More than 60 years of music
Alpert has sold over 72 million records and earned nine Grammy Awards, 15 Gold albums and 14 Platinum albums. Alongside his career as a trumpeter and bandleader, he co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss, the label associated with artists including The Carpenters, The Police, Cat Stevens and Janet Jackson.
His 50th studio album, 50, also celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife and musical collaborator Lani Hall. Away from music, Alpert works as a painter and sculptor and supports arts education and artists through the Herb Alpert Foundation.
