Space Cowboy Bring Jamiroquai Celebration to Wylam

Space Cowboy Newcastle comes to Wylam Brewery on Friday 7 May 2027 with a full live celebration of Jamiroquai. Doors open at 7pm for the 18+ standing show in the Palace of Arts, bringing the funk, disco and acid-jazz side of the catalogue into one of Newcastle’s largest independent rooms.

The appeal is not simply the familiarity of tracks such as Virtual Insanity or Canned Heat. Space Cowboy have spent more than a decade touring their Jamiroquai show across the UK and Europe, with Jamiroquai’s own team previously sharing one of their live medleys. That longevity gives the production more weight than a newly assembled tribute act testing out a set.

Jamiroquai’s music also demands a particular kind of band. The songs rely on bass, drums, keyboards and groove as much as the vocal line, so the live arrangements need to feel fluid rather than simply reproduce the hooks. Space Cowboy’s format has been built around that challenge, with the visual references to Jay Kay sitting alongside a full-band approach to the music.

Wylam Brewery should suit the show particularly well. The Palace of Arts has a wide standing floor and enough scale for a funk-heavy performance to become a dance event, while still keeping the musicians visible enough for the rhythm section to remain part of the attraction.

The date also lands in a venue that regularly hosts specialist album shows and catalogue celebrations. Space Cowboy fits that programme, but the Jamiroquai material gives it a different energy from the rock and indie tribute nights that often occupy the same room.
