A Different Thread bring Over Again tour to Cluny 2 with Driven Serious
A Different Thread bring their award-winning Americana sound to Cluny 2 on 4 October 2026, with local support from Driven Serious.
North Carolina-based transatlantic Americana band A Different Thread will bring their Over Again album release tour to Cluny 2 in Newcastle on Sunday 4 October 2026, with North East folk-punk act Driven Serious providing support.
The Newcastle date forms part of a 20-date UK run celebrating A Different Thread’s third record, Over Again. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £10 through the official Cluny listing.
A Different Thread is built around songwriters Alicia Best, from Durham, North Carolina, and Midlands-born Robert Jackson. The pair first met while busking in Ireland before developing a sound that brings British folk-rock and North Carolina alt-country together through close harmonies, acoustic guitar, fiddle, harmonica and stripped-back percussion.
Over Again tour arrives in Newcastle
The title track from Over Again recently won the folk/Americana category at the International Acoustic Music Awards, adding further momentum to the album campaign. The band have also picked up support slots with The Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens of Big Star, while their music has attracted attention from BBC radio, NPR and a range of Americana outlets.
Their live show leans into the story behind the songs as much as the arrangements themselves, moving between intimate harmony-led passages and more energetic, foot-stomping moments. Themes of wanderlust, resilience and social justice run through the material, with the duo describing their aim as bringing people together through songs built around hope and kindness.
Driven Serious play a rare hometown duo set
Support comes from Newcastle/Durham outfit Driven Serious, who will appear in a rare duo format for the show. Frontman Rob Jones and fiddle player Sol Sayal will strip the band’s energetic folk-punk sound back for the Cluny 2 setting.
Driven Serious have been active across the North East and beyond since 2011, and the local support gives the show a particularly strong regional connection alongside A Different Thread’s transatlantic Americana sound.
