PØRTERS are a six-piece alt-rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, combining heavy riffs with melodic vocals, atmosphere and four-part harmonies. Fronted by Maria Winter, the band balance weight and emotion rather than treating volume as the whole point of the sound.

Their 2025 EP Motion Without Direction was followed by singles including Recover, The Thrill, Timewaster and 2026 release Burning Soul. That growing catalogue shows a band comfortable moving between punchier rock sections and more spacious melodic passages.

Live performance is central to PØRTERS, with 2026 bringing a BBC Introducing appearance at The Glasshouse and a slot at Aelius Alternative Festival in Newcastle, as well as further North East festival dates. The band’s sets are built to feel immersive rather than static, with the vocal harmonies giving the heavier material a distinctive lift.
