Suspicions Confirmed are part of Newcastle’s long-running post-punk story, with roots reaching back to the city’s 1980s underground scene. Their music combines dark garage rock, psych-fuzz, punk melody and post-punk tension, connecting naturally with that earlier era without simply recreating it.
The current material still carries plenty of rawness. Gritty guitars, commanding vocals and flashes of synth sit alongside lyrics willing to question politics, authority and the world around them, giving the band a sharper edge than a straightforward nostalgia act.
Recent releases include the Save Your Soul EP and single Regicide. The latter pairs soaring synths with rough-edged guitars and politically pointed lyrics, and was recorded at Polestar Studios before being mastered at Loft Studios.
Newcastle remains central to the band’s identity, while recent shows at venues including Cluny 2 have placed them alongside a newer generation of North East artists. That crossover is part of what keeps Suspicions Confirmed relevant: there is real history behind the band, but the story is still moving forward.
