Zak Younger Banks

Zak Younger Banks is a Newcastle-based alt-folk singer-songwriter whose music is built around expressive vocals, detailed lyrics and atmospheric guitar work. His songs often carry a strong sense of place, balancing intimate acoustic writing with more ambient and electric textures.

That contrast gives the music room to move between quiet, closely observed storytelling and a broader, more cinematic sound. The arrangements rarely feel crowded, leaving space for the words and the emotional weight of the vocal to stay at the front.

Newcastle remains central to his work, both as a base and as a setting for live performances. A September 2026 album preview at The Cumberland Arms brings that connection into focus, placing new material in one of the city’s most intimate grassroots rooms.
