Chloe Slater Brings Riot Youth to Cluny 2
Chloe Slater brings debut album Riot Youth and its sharp, hopeful protest songwriting to Cluny 2.

The Chloe Slater Newcastle gig brings the Manchester-based songwriter’s debut album, Riot Youth, to Cluny 2 on Tuesday 17 November 2026. Across ten tracks, Slater turns the pressures surrounding her generation into sharp indie-rock songs that still leave room for hope rather than settling into easy nihilism.
Why the Chloe Slater Newcastle gig matters now
Riot Youth tackles social division, toxic internet culture, declining community, the climate crisis and billionaire power. Those themes give the record a clear political edge, although Slater’s writing also moves into more personal and poetic territory. Anthemic choruses carry the argument without reducing the songs to slogans.
Her route towards the album began with debut EP You Can’t Put A Price On Fun in 2024, followed by Love Me Please the next year. Both releases established her witty, pointed approach to protest songwriting and placed her within a longer British tradition of artists turning bleak circumstances into memorable pop and rock songs.
Slater’s audience has grown quickly online, with almost two million TikTok likes noted by the official event listing. However, the momentum has also been built on stage. During the past two years she has opened for Alessi Rose, Role Model and Courtney Barnett, as well as appearing at Glastonbury and the BRITs Fringe showcase.
The new record is intended to prompt conversation rather than offer distraction from the issues it describes. That makes Cluny 2 a strong setting for the material. Its close layout should keep the words clear while giving the choruses enough communal force to turn concern and frustration into something shared.
