PET NEEDS return to Newcastle on Sunday 18 October 2026 for a headline show at The Cluny, with the Essex four-piece bringing the sort of live reputation that only really comes from spending a lot of time on the road.
Table Of Content

Brothers Johnny and George Marriott formed the core of PET NEEDS before Jules and Ryan completed the current line-up, and the years since debut album Fractured Party Music have been busy. The band have toured extensively across the UK, Europe and the US, both under their own name and alongside artists including Frank Turner, The Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly, Skinny Lister, The Hives and Laura Jane Grace.
That amount of touring matters more here than a long list of support credits might suggest. PET NEEDS are a band whose songs make most sense when there is a room responding to them. The choruses are built to come back from the crowd, the guitars rarely hang around for long and even the more reflective writing tends to arrive without draining the momentum from the set.
PET NEEDS bring the pace back to The Cluny
Third album Intermittent Fast Living pushed the band into the UK Official Albums Chart Top 20, reaching number 17, while their catalogue has continued to grow since. What hasn’t disappeared is the slightly frantic quality that has followed them from the beginning. PET NEEDS can be melodic without becoming polished to the point of losing their edge, and punk without treating speed as the only thing that matters.
The Cluny should put that energy right on top of the audience. There isn’t much distance between band and crowd in the main room, which tends to expose a live act fairly quickly: if the songs aren’t connecting, everybody knows about it. PET NEEDS have enough miles behind them for that not to be much of a concern.
The Newcastle date also lands in the middle of a busy run, with the band’s own listings taking them through Manchester, Newcastle, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Blackpool, Hull, Cambridge, Bournemouth, Southsea and Norwich during October. By the time they reach Ouseburn, this isn’t going to be a set still finding its feet.
For anyone who has only encountered PET NEEDS through the records, Sunday offers the more useful introduction. The hooks are there on record, but the pace, crowd interaction and slightly chaotic feel of the band make the live version a different proposition.
