The Bates Motel Band Newcastle brings a new record home
The Cluny matinee lands in the same month as Factory Road, giving the band a fresh album to place alongside Bad Bob Bates’ existing catalogue and the newer Lee/Bates collaborations. That makes the show more than a repeat of a familiar local Sunday slot.
The band brings together Bad Bob Bates, Ally Lee, Les Young, Dave Coates and Adam Forster, a line-up with decades of combined performing, recording, engineering and production experience. Their sound moves across guitar-driven rock, Americana and R&B, which gives the set enough range to move from rootsier songwriting into heavier full-band sections without feeling stitched together.
The current live cycle has also produced an extensive live album recorded in Scotland earlier in 2026. Alongside recent single Shape In The Mirror and EP Songs For The Lost And Lonely, that means there is a substantial body of newer material available rather than a set built mainly from older favourites.
