Swindled Newcastle | The Cluny Gig Preview

A sold-out Glasshouse show, BBC Radio 1 airplay and a packed festival summer have made 2026 a big year for Sunderland five-piece Swindled. Now they’re heading back to Newcastle for a headline gig at The Cluny on Friday 23 October. Swindled Newcastle is the next chance to catch them up close, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Swindled Newcastle: new music and a Cluny headline

Swindled have taken their songs beyond their Sunderland base this year, with appearances at Kendal Calling and Lindisfarne Festival alongside that sold-out Glasshouse date. The Cluny gig brings them back to a smaller room where the audience can get close to the action.

Swindled’s latest official releases, Endless Depression & Sexual Fantasies and Loved Up and Worried, have pushed the group’s theatrical indie-pop further towards bigger hooks without losing the darker humour and anxiety running through the lyrics. Both tracks have been central to the current live cycle, giving the set fresh material rather than relying on the earlier EPs alone.

There’s plenty to look forward to at The Cluny. The Ouseburn room gives Swindled space for a full headline set without putting much distance between the band and the crowd. After a summer of festival stages, this one should feel rather different.

Swindled put as much energy into the performance as they do the songs. Expect colour, movement and a theatrical streak alongside their indie-pop hooks. Their lively stage show should feel right at home in The Cluny’s intimate setting.

After a busy summer on festival stages, Swindled return to a smaller Newcastle room with new tracks in the set. Their Cluny headline offers a chance to catch the Sunderland five-piece up close this October.

Swindled play The Cluny on Friday 23 October 2026. Doors are at 7.30pm. Check Swindled and The Cluny’s official channels before travelling for any late changes to timings, support or admission information.
