The Cluny 2 date comes after Adams turned 2024 album Behind Closed Doors into two sold-out UK tours, giving the Newcastle show a proven body of newer material rather than a set built mainly around his viral covers. Lead track Amen has also taken on a life of its own as a wedding favourite.
Adams’ route into music remains an important part of his live identity. He began busking to fund his earliest recordings, then left a job as a mathematics teacher after his first album reached number three on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart. Since then he has supported artists including Take That, Lemar, T’Pau and Katherine Jenkins while building a large online audience around both original songs and acoustic reinterpretations.
