Sheku Kanneh-Mason at The Glasshouse | Gig Preview

Sheku Kanneh-Mason joins Royal Northern Sinfonia at The Glasshouse in Gateshead on Friday 16 October 2026 for a Sage One programme built around Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1. Conducted by Dinis Sousa, the concert also includes music by Grieg and Sibelius, bringing one of the UK’s best-known young classical soloists back to the North East with the venue’s home orchestra.

The Saint-Saëns concerto is the obvious focal point, giving Kanneh-Mason a work that balances lyricism with technical demands without overwhelming the shape of the programme. Royal Northern Sinfonia then broadens the evening with music from Grieg’s Peer Gynt and Sibelius’ Third Symphony.
