The Surfrajettes Bring Their Instrumental Surf Rock to The Grove

The Surfrajettes The Grove Newcastle brings the Toronto instrumental quartet to Byker on Saturday 19 September 2026 as part of their Party Across the Pond Tour. Doors are at 7pm, putting one of modern surf rock’s most distinctive live acts into one of Newcastle’s closest small rooms.

The Surfrajettes have built an international audience without relying on a singer. Instead, the personality comes through twanging guitars, tightly locked rhythms and a visual style that nods towards the early 1960s without treating the music like a museum piece. Their records move between classic surf language and newer arrangements, giving the band plenty of material to stretch out live.

Instrumental bands need the playing itself to carry the hooks, and that is where The Surfrajettes stand out.
