Ceitidh Mac

Ceitidh Mac is an alt-folk singer and cellist whose music brings folk roots together with contemporary electronic texture. Originally from Pembrokeshire, she later moved to Newcastle upon Tyne, where her songwriting and live work became closely connected with the North East scene.

The cello gives her music a distinctive centre, capable of carrying both rhythmic weight and more atmospheric detail around the vocal. Rather than treating folk as a fixed tradition, Ceitidh’s arrangements leave room for loops, electronics and modern production ideas alongside the acoustic foundations.

Her North East connection has grown through performances, collaborations and a period as Artist in Residence at The Glasshouse. A 2026 appearance at The Globe alongside Rivkala and Thatcher & Knowles places her within the region’s broad folk, jazz and experimental community rather than in a single narrow genre.
