Harry Gallagher is a North East poet, singer, songwriter and dramatist whose work blends acoustic songcraft with northern observation and storytelling. His writing often starts with ordinary lives and familiar landscapes, then finds the emotional or political detail hiding underneath them.
Working-class experience and the North East coast are recurring influences, but Gallagher’s songs and poems avoid turning the region into scenery. Instead, place becomes part of the story, shaping the voices, humour and tensions that run through the work.
His live performances draw on both music and spoken word, giving him room to shift naturally between song, poetry and narrative. That combination makes the work feel particularly suited to intimate venues and festival settings, where the connection with the audience can become part of the performance itself.
