Sue Conroy

Sue Conroy is a Middlesbrough singer-songwriter whose acoustic songs combine protest, humour and heartfelt storytelling. Her writing is rooted in Teesside life, often drawing on local heritage, northern identity and the social issues that shape everyday experience.

There is a conversational quality to Conroy’s songs, with wit sitting comfortably alongside more serious subject matter. Rather than separating political writing from personal material, she often lets the two meet, using small observations and familiar details to give bigger themes a human scale.

That strong sense of place has made her a natural part of the Teesside and wider North East folk and singer-songwriter circuit. Live, the stripped-back acoustic setting keeps the focus firmly on the words, humour and stories behind the songs.
