Tim Dalling is a songwriter, accordionist and theatre performer whose work brings folk musicianship, storytelling and humour together in a distinctly personal way. Originally from Ayr, he has lived in Newcastle upon Tyne for almost three decades, making the city an important part of both his musical and theatrical life.
Dalling’s songs often feel closer to spoken storytelling than conventional singer-songwriter material, using character, wit and observation alongside the accordion. That background in performance gives his live work a conversational quality, where the line between song, story and theatre can become deliberately blurred.
His long North East connection also includes years with the Old Rope String Band, alongside solo work and collaborations across the folk scene. The result is a body of work that feels rooted in traditional performance but never trapped by it.
