Houghton Brass are a long-established brass band from Houghton-le-Spring, with a history stretching back to the early 1980s. The group developed from the former Houghton Schools’ Band and has remained closely connected to the musical life of Sunderland and County Durham, combining community performances with a strong contesting tradition.

Across the years, Houghton Brass have performed at local festivals, civic events and major regional celebrations, while continuing to compete within the British brass-band movement.
