House Proud

House Proud are a post-punk band from Sunderland and the wider North East, formed in 2023 and quickly becoming a familiar name on the region’s grassroots circuit. Their sound is tense, noisy and direct, built around angular guitar lines, heavy drums, prominent bass and lyrics with a raw emotional edge.

Tracks such as Rescue Dog, Farmers, Barber and the Choices EP have helped define the band’s early identity. Influences including Joy Division, Fugazi and Shame can be heard in the detached guitar textures and hard-hitting rhythm section, although House Proud are strongest when the songs feel immediate and local rather than overly indebted to those references.

Sunderland remains central to the project, with appearances around venues such as Pop Recs and the Museum Vaults alongside wider festival dates including Veritas and A Stone’s Throw. The band’s rise has been steady and live-led, built through repeat shows, a developing catalogue and a strong DIY identity.
