J.P. Riggall is a Teesside singer-songwriter whose atmospheric music has been described as “anxiety blues”. His songs favour mood and detail over grand gestures, turning personal reflection into dreamlike stories that feel intimate without becoming overly fragile.
Much of his writing moves through the imagined landscapes of Dukes County and Laurel County, places populated by drifters, dreamers and people trying to find their way back to themselves. That fictional geography gives the songs a distinctive sense of place while leaving enough space for listeners to recognise their own experiences in them.
Riggall’s live work across the North East has seen him share stages with Paul Smith, Chris Helme and King Creosote. In smaller rooms especially, the restrained quality of his writing and performance gives the songs room to breathe, making atmosphere as important as melody.
