James Witham is a Teesside indie artist whose songwriting combines emotional directness with a larger alternative-rock palette. Anthemic guitars and cinematic synths sit around lyrics that deal with growth, identity and the uncertainty that comes with trying to work out where you fit.
His debut single Walls introduced that approach through a song built around youthful vulnerability and a strong melodic chorus. Later material has pushed further into psychedelic and atmospheric territory without losing the personal writing at the centre of the project.
Witham’s live work has continued to carry that sound beyond Teesside, including a Newcastle date at ZEROX on 10 October 2026. The contrast between intimate writing and bigger, widescreen arrangements is a recurring part of what gives his music its character.
