Janice Burns & Jon Doran

Janice Burns & Jon Doran are an award-winning Anglo-Scottish folk duo based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Janice is originally from Glasgow and Jon from Gloucestershire; they met while studying Folk and Traditional Music at Newcastle University and formed the duo here in 2017.

Their music is built around close vocal harmonies and the interplay of mandolin, bouzouki and guitar. Their debut album No More the Green Hills reached the Official UK Folk Chart and received airplay on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland, while their festive release Great Joy to the New expanded their repertoire of traditional songs and winter material.

The duo have performed at festivals and venues including Cambridge Folk Festival, Edinburgh Tradfest, Sidmouth Folk Festival and The Glasshouse, while continuing to work from their Newcastle base.
