Kraken Waker are a Newcastle three-piece built around heavy riffs, groove and hooks, with a sound that sits between hard rock, doom and alternative metal. Their music is loud and muscular without losing the sense of swing that gives the band its identity.

The band won the Newcastle Metal 2 the Masses competition in 2024 and went on to play Bloodstock, before releasing debut album Be Good in October that year. Tracks such as Be Good, Get Good or Give Up and In His Cups show the mix of weight, humour and riff-driven momentum that runs through the record.

Since then Kraken Waker have continued gigging around the UK, sharing bills with acts including Froglord, Space Pistol, Hammer, Syncolima, Battalions and Famyne while working towards a follow-up album. Their live appeal is straightforward: big riffs, a tight three-piece setup and enough groove to keep the heaviness moving.
