Stannington

Stannington are a five-piece from Newcastle upon Tyne making guitar music that draws on jangle-pop, post-punk and the more melodic side of British indie. Formed in 2022, the band developed through the city’s DIY circuit with a sound built around chiming guitars, dry lyrical observation and a rhythm section that keeps the songs moving without overcomplicating them.

Early tracks including Through You and Roads introduced that approach, while 2025 EP Farmers Market gave a clearer picture of the band’s direction. Their influences are visible, but the strongest material carries a distinct Newcastle character rather than feeling like generic revivalism.

Live activity has kept Stannington closely tied to the North East grassroots scene, including shows at venues such as The Cumberland Arms alongside wider UK dates. Their connection to Newcastle is well established through both their base and the local network that helped the band form and develop.
