Suspirium and Darlington alternative rock

Suspirium are an all-original four-piece alternative rock band from Darlington. The line-up features Davey Cuthbert on lead guitar and vocals, Jonty Ledbetter on saxophone, Gabriel Dye on bass guitar and Isaac Timmins on drums.

The band’s sound stands out because the saxophone is treated as part of the core arrangement rather than an occasional extra. Grungy guitar work, psychedelic vocals and the push of the rhythm section sit alongside soaring sax lines, giving Suspirium a different shape to many guitar bands working around the North East.

Suspirium’s debut EP

Suspirium have been promoting their self-titled debut EP, using it to introduce the sound they have been developing live. The material brings together alternative rock weight with more atmospheric and psychedelic elements, while the rhythm section keeps the songs moving underneath the guitar and saxophone interplay.

Their Darlington roots are central to the profile. The band have been selected for The Forum Music Centre’s Live and Local series, a monthly night specifically built to showcase North East artists and bands. That gives Suspirium a regular grassroots platform close to home while also putting them alongside other emerging acts from County Durham and the wider region.
