Suspirium

Suspirium are an all-original four-piece alternative rock band from Darlington, built around grungy guitar work, psychedelic vocals and a saxophone that is treated as part of the core sound rather than an occasional extra. Davey Cuthbert leads on guitar and vocals, with Jonty Ledbetter on saxophone, Gabriel Dye on bass and Isaac Timmins on drums.

The band’s self-titled debut EP introduces that combination clearly, moving between heavier alternative-rock sections and more atmospheric passages while the saxophone gives the arrangements a shape that immediately separates them from a standard guitar-band setup.

Darlington is central to the project, with appearances in The Forum Music Centre’s Live and Local series helping the band build experience close to home. Their unusual instrumentation gives Suspirium a recognisable identity before the catalogue has even had time to grow much further.
