Takuya Nakamura brings live set to The Grove
Takuya Nakamura brings his live electronic and multi-instrumental set to The Grove in Newcastle on 13 October.

Takuya Nakamura Newcastle comes to The Grove on Tuesday 13 October for a live set presented by Futuresound Events. Doors are listed for 7pm, with the New York-based producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist bringing a performance shaped by electronic music, jazz and decades of work across different scenes.
Nakamura’s live setup draws on more than two decades of trumpet, keyboards and electronic instruments alongside his work as a producer and DJ. His wider credits span collaborations and performances with artists including Quincy Jones, Lee “Scratch” Perry and GZA, but the Grove date is centred on his own live material rather than a guest appearance.

His recent catalogue gives the show a strong current focus. The 2026 release Pleasure Seekers follows 2025’s Takuya Nakamura Live with Currency Audio, adding to a body of work that moves between club electronics, improvisation and instrumental performance. That range is what makes this Newcastle date stand out from a more conventional DJ booking.
That history matters because Nakamura is not approaching electronic music from a single lane. Trumpet and keyboards remain part of the picture alongside production and DJ work, so the live format can move between composed material, instrumental colour and the pulse of club music without treating those elements as separate projects.
The Grove should also suit the detail in Nakamura’s approach. With trumpet, keys and electronics all part of his musical language, a smaller room allows the audience to hear the changes in texture as well as the bigger rhythmic moments. It is a live proposition built around musicianship and electronic production meeting in the same space.
Takuya Nakamura plays The Grove, Newcastle, on Tuesday 13 October 2026. Doors are advertised for 7pm. The official Grove ticket page carries the latest ticket and event information.
