The band have now released Got What We Came Here For, the final single from their Waiting For The Lights To Change EP, which is out now. It arrives as The Bracknall prepare for their biggest UK touring run to date, including support appearances with Embrace and a headline London show at KOKO.
The Bracknall at The Cluny: new music before Newcastle
Produced by Embrace guitarist Richard McNamara during week-long sessions in Halifax, Got What We Came Here For turns the band’s own progress into its subject. The song looks back at the years of balancing day jobs with late-night rehearsals and contrasts them with increasingly large shows and a growing audience.
Frontman Jack Dacey describes The Bracknall as a “singing band”, and the new track leans directly into that idea, building towards the kind of communal chorus designed to make sense in a packed room. It follows recent grassroots releases Heavy On The Feeling and What Am I To Do.
That audience has played an unusually direct role in the band’s development. Fan support has helped finance releases while The Bracknall have steadily moved into larger venues and festival slots, including appearances at the Isle of Wight Festival, Truck and Y Not?. Their influences stretch across British guitar music, with touchpoints including Doves, Ride, The Verve and Oasis alongside more contemporary songwriting instincts.
The Newcastle stop lands late in the headline run, following Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and other dates before the band head towards their KOKO show in December. The Cluny’s compact room should make a particularly good fit for music built around audience participation rather than distance between band and crowd.
