South African blues-rock guitarist Dan Patlansky brings his new live album and wider catalogue to The Cluny on 25 November 2026.

The date follows a summer of European festivals and arrives shortly after a new live album built from performances recorded across South Africa. Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets are £20 plus fees and the show is 16+.

Patlansky’s May 2026 Live Album Recording Tour SA was designed to preserve the energy of his concerts rather than recreate it later in a studio. Every performance on the run was professionally recorded, with the strongest moments selected for a live album scheduled for September. By the time he reaches The Cluny, audiences will be able to hear that document and then experience the same emphasis on improvisation, extended solos and direct exchange in the room.
The tour has a broad international shape. Festival appearances in Romania and Poland and a Budapest club date lead into further European touring through September and October, before the UK leg begins in November. Newcastle therefore lands near the end of a sustained run, when a band’s arrangements can become both tightly drilled and open to new turns.
Across 11 studio albums and more than a decade of international touring, Patlansky has built a style rooted in blues tradition without treating it as a museum piece. His 2024 studio album, Movin’ On, continued a run of records recognised in annual blues-rock polls, while the new live release turns attention back to the stage as the centre of his work. The Cluny set will draw from that wider catalogue alongside material captured during the South African recording dates.
For guitar listeners, the appeal is not simply speed or volume. Patlansky’s performances are shaped by how solos stretch, change direction and respond to the band around them. That makes each date more than a fixed reproduction of a record, and The Cluny’s main room should keep the physical impact of the playing close.
