Newcastle soul and R&B favourites The Smokin’ Spitfires play two Sunday matinee sets, with all profits supporting The Bubble Foundation.
Smokin’ Spitfires Newcastle returns to The Cluny for a Sunday matinee on 1 November 2026. The horn-driven soul and R&B band will play two sets, while the event also raises money for The Bubble Foundation.
Every pound of profit from the two-set matinee will support The Bubble Foundation. That gives the show a clear community purpose, although the music remains a substantial draw in its own right. The group has deep roots in Newcastle’s live soul circuit.

Neil Hunter’s songwriting and vocals sit at the centre of the band. Around him, a full brass section brings the punch associated with classic rhythm and blues. Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and James Brown provide useful reference points, while original material gives the set its own identity.
The Smokin’ Spitfires have also become regulars at North East venues, including The Cluny and The Globe. Consequently, this isn’t a one-off charity line-up assembled for the occasion. Instead, it brings an established local band back into a room it knows well.
