Voices of Virtue Gospel Choir grew out of a Newcastle friendship between Matti and Chichi and has developed into one of the North East’s best-known gospel ensembles. What began as a duo expanded into a larger vocal group built around gospel, soul and a shared message of faith, love, hope and unity.
The choir’s live history reaches well beyond church and community settings. Voices of Virtue have performed with artists including Sting and Shaggy, appeared in major regional productions and developed their own sold-out gospel and soul shows. Their sound is rooted in rich harmony and collective energy, with the size of the ensemble giving both traditional gospel material and contemporary songs a powerful lift.
In 2026 the group marks ten years with a special anniversary concert at The Glasshouse in Gateshead. That milestone reflects how far the choir has grown from its Newcastle beginnings while keeping the sense of community and togetherness that has always sat at the heart of the music.
