Glasgow doomgaze band Cwfen bring the Sorrows era to Head of Steam Newcastle on 14 November 2026.
Cwfen Newcastle comes to Head of Steam on Saturday 14 November 2026, with doors at 7pm. The Glasgow band arrives during an extended period of activity around debut album Sorrows, following a year that has taken the group through heavier touring, festival stages and a deluxe expansion of the record.
Cwfen describe their sound as doomgaze, but the music reaches beyond a simple genre tag. Heavy guitars, gothic atmosphere and slow-burning tension sit alongside vocals that can move from restrained to forceful without losing the songs underneath. That contrast is a major part of why the band works in a live room.
Cwfen Newcastle follows the Sorrows deluxe release
The Newcastle date comes during the first anniversary cycle for Sorrows, whose deluxe edition arrived in June 2026 with live and demo material. The expanded version runs to 20 tracks and includes live recordings that show how the songs have changed as Cwfen’s touring schedule has grown.
The band have specifically highlighted live versions of Bodies from their second-ever show at Core Festival in 2023 and Whispers from Belfast in 2026. That makes the deluxe edition more than a simple reissue because it documents how the live side of Cwfen has developed alongside the studio record.
Newcastle also lands inside a compact November run. The band’s official links place Head of Steam on 14 November, followed by Glasgow on 15 November and further dates in London and Bristol later in the month. That should mean the set arrives fully focused on the material Cwfen are currently carrying through this phase.
Head of Steam suits the band’s close, heavy sound. The basement room should keep the detail in the quieter passages present while still allowing the larger riffs to hit with enough physical weight when the arrangements open up.
