Table Of Content
During the summer, Curtis supported Florence + The Machine, Lewis Capaldi, Self Esteem, Mumford & Sons, The War On Drugs, Rachel Chinouriri and Wunderhorse. Earlier in the year, she joined Holly Humberstone on tour. Now she’ll step out on her own headline run, taking in Ireland, Manchester, London and Leeds before returning to Newcastle.
Heidi Curtis at The Grove Newcastle: a sold-out homecoming
The Grove date follows the release of Curtis’s Hollow Heart EP and arrives just weeks after she unveiled her new single ‘Summon’ on 24 September. Craig Charles premiered the track on BBC Radio 6 Music the previous evening. It’s the title-track of a new EP due on 20 November via AWAL.
Speaking about the new song, Curtis describes ‘Summon’ as a statement of strength and resilience. Writing it helped her push past doubts about being loud and ambitious as a woman in music. Its soaring sound adds another dimension to a catalogue that draws on indie, rock and folk.
That new material gives the homecoming show an extra talking point. Curtis has spent much of the year appearing in support slots, but her own headline night gives her the chance to lead the set and put her songwriting front and centre. The Newcastle audience will see her in a much more intimate setting than the larger outdoor shows she has played this summer.
