JAMAGOTCHI at The Point Sunderland
Jamagotchi bring a live five-piece 90s tribute set to Sunday Club at The Point Sunderland on 8 November. Starts 3pm; band live 4pm. Free entry.
Jamagotchi take The Point Sunderland’s Sunday Club back to the 1990s on 8 November with a live five-piece tribute set that covers far more than one corner of the decade. The songbook moves through Britpop, guitar pop, chart favourites and alternative tracks rather than sticking to a single scene.
Table Of Content
Blur, Pulp, Supergrass, The Cranberries, The Cure, Pixies, James, Spice Girls, Stereophonics, Travis, Robbie Williams and The Verve all fit into the mix. That makes the set feel more like a sweep through the decade than a narrow indie night.
Jamagotchi at The Point Sunderland
The event starts at 3pm, with Happy Hour running from 3pm to 4pm. Jamagotchi go live at 4pm and entry is free. The Sunday timing suits the nostalgia angle well, because the show can feel lively without turning into a late-night commitment.
The song choices give the band plenty of room to change mood. Parklife and Disco 2000 bring the obvious Britpop side, Dreams and Kiss Me soften things, while Bartender & The Thief and Let Me Entertain You push the set back towards bigger live energy.
A full-band 90s afternoon
The main difference from a 90s DJ event is the live line-up. These songs are being played by a five-piece rather than dropped one after another from a playlist, so arrangements, vocals and the way the band links the material together should matter as much as the nostalgia.
Check The Point’s official event listing before travelling for any timing changes. More Sunderland dates are on SoundBite North East’s The Point Sunderland page, with other North East shows in the Upcoming Gigs guide.
