INDIEPALOOZA at The Point Sunderland
Indiepalooza brings tributes to The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Sam Fender, Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs to The Point Sunderland from 5pm.
Indiepalooza arrives at The Point Sunderland on Saturday 31 October with a format designed for people who want several major indie catalogues in one room rather than a single-band tribute. The touring show centres on tributes to The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Sam Fender, Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs, all packed into the same night.
Table Of Content
That line-up gives the event a particularly strong UK festival feel. Oasis and Kasabian bring the larger singalong moments, Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs cover a different side of 2000s indie, while Sam Fender adds a more recent North East connection to the mix.
Indiepalooza at The Point Sunderland
Now in its fourth year, Indiepalooza has already sold out venues of more than 1,000 capacity around the country. That gives this Sunderland date a bit more weight than a local one-off tribute night, because the format has already been tested in larger rooms.
The event starts at 5pm, so it is an earlier beginning than a conventional Saturday gig. Anyone planning to arrive after dinner or expecting a late doors time could miss a sizeable part of the programme, especially with several tribute acts sharing the same event.
Six indie catalogues in one evening
The real strength is variety. A Killers chorus lands differently from an Arctic Monkeys riff, and Sam Fender brings a very different emotional tone from Oasis or Kasabian. That should help the night avoid feeling repetitive, even though the music stays firmly inside the indie-rock world.
