Morag Tong Brings Heavy Psych to The Lubber Fiend
Morag Tong heads to The Lubber Fiend on 8 October with Newcastle heavy psych band Druidess supporting.

Morag Tong at The Lubber Fiend brings the London band’s heavy, psychedelic sound to Newcastle on Thursday 8 October, with local support from Druidess. The show is advertised for 7pm and lands during a short UK run that takes Morag Tong through London, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle and Dundee.
Morag Tong have built their sound around long-form heavy music rather than quick, direct hits. Their 2023 album Grieve stretches through sludge, doom, psychedelic rock and progressive ideas, with songs that are happy to build slowly before opening into much bigger passages. Earlier releases Through Clouded Time and Last Knell of Om established the same interest in weight, atmosphere and patient dynamics.
## Morag Tong at The Lubber Fiend
The Newcastle date has an especially strong local angle thanks to Druidess. The Newcastle upon Tyne band describe their own music as heavy psych with a clear Sabbath influence, and their October hometown date sits inside a run taking them through London, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol, Dundee and Glasgow. That makes this more than a touring headliner arriving with an unrelated opener. The pairing makes musical sense.
Druidess have also been pushing their debut album Trip Meadow, giving the Newcastle set a chance to bring newer material into a room that suits heavy music at close range. With Morag Tong’s longer, more expansive approach on top, the bill should move naturally from local heavy psych into something broader and more immersive.
The Lubber Fiend has become one of Newcastle’s most useful rooms for metal, experimental music and left-field touring acts. A show like this is exactly where that booking policy works best: two bands with shared roots in heavy music but enough difference to stop the evening becoming one-note.
Morag Tong play The Lubber Fiend on Thursday 8 October 2026 at 7pm, with Druidess supporting.
