WICKED DOGZ at The Point Sunderland
Wicked Dogz bring classic rock, 80s favourites and heavier guitar material to The Point Sunderland on Saturday 10 October. Event starts 7pm; band live 8:45pm.
Wicked Dogz take the Saturday Live Lounge slot at The Point Sunderland on 10 October with a four-piece set that moves between classic rock, 80s favourites and heavier guitar material. Dire Straits and Queen sit alongside Metallica and Billy Idol, which gives the night a much wider range than the usual pub-rock songbook.
Table Of Content
The interesting part is the contrast. Dire Straits calls for a very different touch from Metallica, while Queen and Billy Idol sit somewhere between theatrical rock and straight-ahead crowd songs. A band able to move between those corners of the set should have enough variety to keep the evening from settling into one gear.
Wicked Dogz at The Point Sunderland
The event opens at 7pm, with Happy Hour running until 8pm. Wicked Dogz are live on stage at 8:45pm and entry is free. Strong vocals, tight playing and a fully live set are central to this kind of night, because most of the room will already know the songs.
That means the reason to stay is hearing familiar material played properly and with enough personality to avoid sounding like a playlist recreated note for note.
A heavier Saturday option
Compared with some of The Point’s broader pop-rock dates, Wicked Dogz look like one of the louder choices in the autumn run. The Metallica and Billy Idol side should bring more bite, while Queen and Dire Straits stop it becoming an all-out metal set.
