Young Knives bring 20th anniversary tour to The Grove
Young Knives bring the 20th anniversary of Voices of Animals and Men to The Grove Newcastle on 21 November with Hot Face.

Young Knives Newcastle lands at The Grove on Saturday 21 November for a 20th anniversary performance built around Voices of Animals and Men. Doors are listed for 7pm, with Hot Face joining the bill as support on a UK run that also visits Norwich, Nottingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and a string of other cities.
The anniversary gives the Newcastle date a clear focus. Voices of Animals and Men arrived in 2006 and became the record that pushed Young Knives into a much wider audience. Two decades later, the band are revisiting that period from a very different point in their career, after years spent moving further into experimental post-punk, noise and electronic textures.
Young Knives Newcastle revisits a defining album
The tour is specifically built around the 20th anniversary of Voices of Animals and Men, rather than simply using the album as a loose theme for a standard greatest-hits set. That makes The Grove show a chance to hear material from a defining Young Knives record placed back at the centre of the night, with the perspective of everything the band have made since.
That later work matters too. Young Knives released Landfill in 2025, a ten-track album that continued the more adventurous side of their catalogue. The contrast between that recent material and a record made twenty years earlier should give the set more shape than straightforward nostalgia, especially for listeners who have followed the band beyond their mid-2000s breakthrough.
Hot Face adds another element to the bill. The support slot runs across the anniversary tour, so the Newcastle show follows the same format as the wider UK dates rather than being a one-off local addition.
The Grove’s close-capacity room should suit a record remembered for sharp arrangements, jagged guitars and songs that can turn quickly from tightly wound to playful. It also puts a long-established band in a setting where the detail of the older material should remain easy to pick out.
Young Knives play The Grove, Newcastle, on Saturday 21 November 2026. Doors are advertised for 7pm, with Hot Face supporting. Check the venue and artist channels before travelling in case timings or entry information change.
