Polyvinyl are a Newcastle six-piece whose indie-alternative sound brings together bright pop hooks, heavier guitar textures and a strong sense of atmosphere. The band have developed through the city’s grassroots scene while steadily widening the scale of both their arrangements and live shows.

Their music tends to balance immediacy with more ambitious, concept-driven ideas, letting melodic choruses sit alongside denser guitars and moodier passages. That contrast gives Polyvinyl enough range to move between indie-pop accessibility and a more expansive alternative sound without feeling like two different bands.

Live activity remains central to the group, with 2026 dates including Little Buildings and an AELIUS RISING bill at The Globe alongside Cherry Knowle and Martin Purvis. Those smaller Newcastle rooms are a natural fit for a band whose recorded detail is matched by a much more physical live energy.
